Grumbleweed's Woodshop News

Winter 2004 / 2005

Happy New Year everyone! We have alot to be thankful for as we move into 2005. Best wishes to you all!

Our website is going to be revamped shortly. Due to a growing demand locally, our focus will be directed more heavily on the Northern New England markets. From heavy construction carpentry, home additions, remodeling, to fine custom trim and wood furniture, we provide for many needs. Our wood furniture will continue to be available on line. Look for the website update in January or February. We will advise you when it is complete.

GRATIS WOOD WORKING PROJECTS

Recently a friend called to say his mother had only a short while to live. I have known these people for over fourty years and while discussing funeral arrangements, I volunteered to make an urn for his mothers ashes. The family quickly accepted the offer. Several years ago I made an urn for my father's ashes and learned something very few people will have the opportunity to experience.

When being given the priviledge of making a " last gift " of this type, it forces the craftsman into an almost spiritual connection with the person. I am not typically a spiritual person but this is a powerful force that envelopes as one creates for those gone by. The connection never seems to leave, what an honor.

Mary and I are believers in family history, never forgetting where we came from. Mary is not as fortunate as I in having a well documented history so, there is no time like the present to start traditions for the future generations. For Christmas this year, we decided to build a toy box / bench for our twin grandsons, Nicholas and Cyrus Annelli. As with all our wood furniture, it is signed and dated with the location where it was made. This one was personalized to both of them. We hope the toy box will be passed along to their grandchildren in the future.

Everyone has at least one talent. Pass it on to the future generation or gracefully give some of it to the past generation. A gift created by you is one of the best gifts that a person can receive.

We look forward to serving you in the future and appreciate your friendship and business.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
